Trucking in Canada – Medium Heavy and Heavy Freight Transportation Equipment

Posted on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in Pallet Truck Articles

There are more than 40,000 km of express in Canada, named are worthy of implementation, very heavy burden on transport vehicles at regular intervals about the Canadian territories. These heavy transport units carry raw materials such as agricultural and industrial products, heavy machinery, finished consumer goods, but also as dangerous goods across Canada in large quantities. The Canadian road transport industry is heavily regulated in terms of safety, but not in relation to other factors, which makes it a free-competitive market with a constant downward pressure on rates and an upwards trend in terms of the quality of service provided.

The following are some of the medium-heavy, heavy and very-heavy transportation equipment in use across Canada and the 42 states.

Medium Heavy, heavy and very heavy trucks in use for freight hauling in Canada

Refrigerator truck

This type is a medium heavy transportation unit used to carry refrigerated Products (such as consumer products like meat, fish or ice) in bulk. This also includes a built-in cooler (which tends to its weight and power require cooling requirements, the need for very large quantities) to increase carry at once.

Log Carrier

A log carrier is a "special mention" low loader used to large, very long stretches of very severe narrowing of timber transport.

Heavy Load low loader

Consist of a low-loaderCab with a centrally mounted engine and a hydraulic controlled wheel flat on wheels removable platform on the back, shaped as a flat bed trailer (or semitrailer that is smaller), which can carry heavy or very heavy loads, such as a variety of containers, machinery and irregular objects that need space

The medium-heavy varieties with a full trailer (not trailers) used and are used to carry equipment such as industrial (huge factory machineSegments such as large boilers or generators) and other construction machines such as excavators, cranes and excavators. It is also the preferred method of building material flat bed trailer loaded (with cranes that can not be loaded closed containers and semi-truck) in bulk – this material is typically heavy pallets bricks, concrete blocks, cinder blocks, bags of cement or plaster and other very heavy loads of this kind (like sand).

Other types of construction andirregular material are carried out by heavy truck tractors mild steel (rebar, the use of loading on crane loading platforms require very long in length and very difficult, especially for the construction of skyscrapers -), large drain pipes that are long in length and can not load carried or used even on semi-trailer and finally a long and heavy steel beams in building skyscrapers. The military uses this type of transport guns, tanks and parts of airplanes bring with themand ships.

Semi

These are the major types of train and truck to be used, or certain types of goods such as container and the nature of the items mentioned above. To limit the standard requirements (Department of Transportation) for transportation on the highway to 102 cm wide, 13.5 meters high and up to a maximum of 80,000 Lbs Gross Weight, however, individual states may issue special permits for oversize and OverweightTransport. Standard trailer may be present up to 28.5 meters long and LCV's (longer combination vehicles) are also allowed by many states (LCV schemes differ in Canada and from state to state in the U.S.).

LCV Types:

Triples: Three 28.5-foot (8.7 m) trailers; maximum weight of up to 129,000 Lbs.
Turnpike Double: Two 48-foot (14.6 m) trailers; maximum weight of up to 147,000 Lbs.
Rocky Mountain Doubles: Add a combination, have a (40 up to 53-foot trailerallowed is 48 feet) and a 28.5-foottrailer; maximum weight of up to 129,000 Lbs.
In Canada, a Turnpike Double two 53-foot trailer combinations and a Rocky Mountain is a double 50-foot trailer with a 24-foot trailer.
